Recruiter outlines Top 10 ITcontract roles of 2010

Posted Jul 21, 2010

A recruitment consultancy has outlined the UK's most in-demand IT jobs so far this year.

The research, released by IntaPeople, looked into the most frequently advertised IT roles for the first six months of 2010.

The list is understandably dominated by development roles - with C# and .NET developers the most in demand.

Here are the top ten IT roles:

1. C# / ASP.NET Developer

2. Java J2EE Developer

3. PHP Developer

4. Business Analyst

5. Data Administrator

6. Software Engineer

7. Test Analyst

8. SharePoint Developer

9. SQL Developer

10. Head of IT

Phil Handley, Operations Director at IntaPeople, said

"What has been clear during the first half of this year is that a significant number of firms are turning to their IT departments to uncover new ways of reducing operational costs and writing more business.

"Given the enduring popularity of C# and Java among UK businesses, the top of the list is not a massive surprise. The large volume of senior appointments is possibly the biggest revelation, and indicates that firms are willing to make grand scale changes to put themselves on a firm footing as the economy picks up."
