PCG drops 'contractor' label in re-branding exercise

It's all change at the leading representative group for freelancers, as the PCG drops its 'contractor' tag in order to be more inclusive.

Earlier in the week, the Professional Contractors Group unveiled new branding, a new identity and name.

Professor Gary Davies from the University of Manchester's Business School was commissioned to carry out the re-branding exercise.

The Group, now known simply as the 'PCG' discovered that the word 'contractor' was seen as confusing and alienating by some prospective members who consider themselves to be freelancers or consultants.

Michael Darby from Pod Design said:

"In effect the logo, which is only one element of the brand, nevertheless becomes its visual shorthand. Removing the words Professional Contractors Group from the existing logo presented the opportunity to inject new life, and design something more distinctive.

"I believe the new logo has created a contemporary, yet timeless look for the 21st century and its strap line sums up what PCG stands for and will continue to strive for. It's a bolder, more distinctive look and the coloured dots element represent the wide spectrum of members to whom PCG should increasingly appeal."
