Parasol unveils its post-AWR umbrella company solutions

The UK's biggest umbrella company, Parasol, has announced that it is to offer several different solutions for contractors and agencies when the Agency Workers Regulations become law on 1st October 2011.

With so little time left before the AWR comes into force, we can expect all the leading contractor service providers to reveal how they plan to accommodate the new rules into their offerings to contractors, agents and end clients.

In Parasol's case, two umbrella solutions are being offered:

1) The Swedish Derogation model solution, which complies with Regulation 10 of the AWR. (You can read more about the Swedish Derogation here).

2) A Match Permanent Pay model (MPP), in line with regulation 5 of AWR

In addition to the umbrella models, contractors will also be offered limited company solutions via ClearSky Accounting, and bespoke solutions are also being developed for agents and their clients.

AWR could be an opportunity for the staffing industry

Commenting on the need to offer several solutions, Rob Crossland, Parasol's CEO, said:

"Right from the outset, it became very clear to us that a one size fits all approach to AWR would not work and, as the market leader, we needed a robust suite of solutions that would match the individual needs of staffing businesses across the UK.

And on the future for the industry, following the implementation of the AWR, Crossland continued:

"It is not the big scary piece of legislation that many commentators will have you believe, but an opportunity for further evolution in the staffing industry."
