Leading umbrella to host AWR seminars

Employment services provider, Parasol, will be hosting a series of online seminars over the next few weeks to address the confusion which surrounds the implementation of the Agency Workers Regulations.

In a nutshell, the main aim of the AWR is to provide agency workers with the same basic rights as permanent employees after they complete 12 weeks on a qualifying assignment. Umbrella companies, recruiters and workers will be affected in some way by the implementation.

With just a few months to go before the AWR becomes law on 1st October 2011, the Government guidance on the subject leaves a lot of questions unanswered, such as a clear definition of which 'agency workers' are included, and how recruiters should adapt to ensure that they are compliant with the new regulations.

The webinars, to be hosted by Anita Whittle (Parasol's COO), will address the issues which surround the implementation, and will also look at all the potential solutions which have been put forward to date by industry players.

The events are open to recruiters across the UK, and participants will be able to discuss the pros and cons of all the possible solutions in real time.

The next two sessions are on Thursday June 23rd at 3pm, and Thursday 30th June at 1.30pm.

Commenting on the upcoming webinars, Anita said; "As long as all those in the supply chain for temporary or agency workers take a partnership approach and are willing to have open and honest dialogue with each other, then the AWR does not have to be the onerous piece of legislation that many commentators claim it to be."
