Contractor event aims to increase IR35 awareness

An event to help raise awareness of IR35 and the MSC legislation is taking place on 28th August 2008 in Aberdeen - aimed at engineering and IT contractors.

The event, organised by Carlton Resource Solutions, will be held on Thursday 28 August 2008 at Inspire, Beach Boulevard, Aberdeen from 6pm.

Alasdair McGill (Freelance World) and Carl Whittaker (Qdos) will be speaking at the event which aims to help contractors become more aware of IR35 tax issues, and to safeguard themselves against tax investigations.

Alasdair McGill said:

"At the event I will be giving attendees an insight into how IR35 law and the MSC legislation can affect them and resolving some urban myths. I will also be sharing my top ten tips to help contractors stay on the right side of IR35 law. These include not using your business account for personal expenses and how best to make your business a brand, as this is an important part in distinguishing self employment status. From the beginning contractors must get the right advice, as understanding the law and knowing how it applies to your business is the key to being compliant."
