Corporation tax for contractor companies - 2009/10

Corporation tax rates for the 2009/10 and 2010/11 tax years remain unchanged from 2008/9.
IT contractor limited companies will continue to pay 21% on their profits.
Originally, the Government planned to implement an increase in the small companies tax rate from 21% to 22%, but Alistair Darling has twice deferred this rise - the latest delay being announced in the December 2009 Pre-Budget Report.
Limited company contractors will be aware that the corporation tax rate payable by almost all contractors has risen steadily from 19% to 21% over the past few years, whilst the main corporation tax rate (for larger companies) has actually fallen from 30% to 28%.
