IT Contractors value lifestyle as well as financial rewards of contracting

New research suggests that IT Contractors value the lifestyle benefits of contracting more than the financial rewards. Indeed, successive waves of Government attacks on IT contractors tax status doesn't seem to put many people off freelancing as had been previously feared.

The survey of over 2000 IT Contractors by contractor services provider giant revealed some interesting trends within the contracting community.

When asked what the most important factors were for people to pursue an IT Contracting career, 37% said the lifestyle benefits were the most important, followed by the opportunity to charge more for their work (22%) and just 15% claiming reducing their tax bill was the most important factor.

Nearly two thirds (61%) of those surveyed thought that the variety of work was far better in the contracting world than in the world of permanent employment.

57% of IT Contractors also believed they had more freedom than permanent employees - just 15% thought they had less autonomy.
